API Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of the DevDarsha API products — including the Panchang API, Horoscope API, Numerology API, and future API products — and related services provided by DevDarsha ("Company", "we", "us"). By accessing the API you agree to these terms.
1. Acceptance
By creating an account or making any API request, you agree to be bound by these terms. If you are acting on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you have authority to bind that organisation.
2. The Service
The DevDarsha API products provide deterministic calculation data via HTTP endpoints: the Panchang API returns Hindu calendar data (panchang); the Horoscope API returns Vedic astrology (Jyotish) data; and the Numerology API returns numerology calculations. The Company reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any feature with reasonable notice except in cases of security emergencies.
3. API Access & Keys
- One API key per account on the Free plan. Paid plan accounts (Amethyst and above) may request additional keys.
- You are responsible for keeping your API key confidential. Do not embed it in client-side code or public repositories.
- Report suspected key compromise by rotating your key immediately in the dashboard and emailing [email protected].
- The Company may revoke keys that violate these terms without prior notice.
3a. API Licensing
The API is licensed, not sold. These Terms grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to access the API solely for the purposes and within the limits of your subscribed plan.
- You may not resell, sublicense, or redistribute raw API access to third parties without a written white-label plan agreement with DevDarsha.
- White-label (reseller/embedded) plans are available by contacting [email protected].
- Any application that passes API calls through to end users on your behalf must operate under a white-label agreement.
4. Acceptable Use
You must not:
- Attempt to exceed your rate limit by rotating keys or IPs to circumvent throttling.
- Resell or sublicense raw API access to third parties without a written reseller agreement.
- Use the API to build a product that directly competes with the Panchang API service.
- Scrape or bulk-download data beyond what your plan's quota permits.
- Use the API in applications that promote illegal activity or religious hatred.
5. Quotas & Rate Limits
Quotas reset on the first day of each calendar month. Exceeding your monthly quota returns 429 monthly_limit_exceeded. Exceeding your per-minute limit returns 429 rate_limit_exceeded with a Retry-After header. No refund is issued for unused quota.
6. Billing & Free Tier
- Free tier: DevDarsha provides a permanent Free tier.
- Trials:A free trial is not currently offered. The permanent Free tier remains available at no charge, and paid plans are billed from the start of the selected billing cycle.
- Billing: Paid plans are billed on a monthly, 3-month, 6-month, or annual cycle. Prices are in Indian Rupees (INR), exclusive of any taxes that may become applicable; tax handling will be updated when GST registration is in effect. Payments are processed by Razorpay.
- Card details: The Company does not store full card or other payment-instrument details. Payment instruments and any tokenized references are held by Razorpay under its own terms.
- Renewal: Renewals are charged at the full undiscounted cycle price (no first-purchase discount applied). Example: Sapphire 3-month first purchase ₹7,530 (7% off), renewal ₹8,097 (full price).
- Upgrade: Upgrades take effect immediately. Only the plan changes; billing cycle remains unchanged. Charge is prorated using the actual discounted amount previously paid. Next renewal is at the full new plan price.
- Downgrade: Downgrades are never immediate. They apply at the end of the current billing cycle. No mid-cycle refund. Pending downgrade can be undone before cycle end.
- Coupons: Coupons apply only to the first public checkout charge, not renewals or upgrades. Coupons replace billing-cycle discounts.
- Invoices: Invoices for paid charges are available in your dashboard. GST is not currently charged on the service. If GST registration becomes applicable to the Company in future, GST treatment, GSTIN, and invoice formats will be updated and disclosed at that time.
6a. Auto-Debit / e-Mandate (Razorpay Recurring)
Recurring billing on the Service is operated through Razorpay's e-mandate framework, in accordance with applicable Reserve Bank of India guidelines. By enabling a paid plan that uses recurring billing, you authorise the Company, through Razorpay, to debit the registered payment instrument on each renewal, subject to the controls below.
- Additional Factor of Authentication (AFA): AFA (such as 3D-Secure / OTP) is performed by Razorpay at mandate setup and on the first transaction under that mandate.
- Maximum debit amount: Each mandate is created with a maximum debit amount that is at least equal to the relevant plan's renewal price. Charges above this amount cannot be debited automatically and require fresh authorisation.
- Pre-debit notification. Razorpay, your bank, or your card issuer may send a pre-debit notification before a scheduled auto-debit, ordinarily at least 24 hours in advance. These notifications are issued by the payment provider, the bank, or the card issuer, and not by DevDarsha. DevDarsha does not control and does not guarantee their delivery, timing, or content. Nothing in this paragraph reduces any notification obligation that Razorpay, your bank, or your card issuer owes you under the applicable mandate rules, and nothing in it removes or limits any obligation DevDarsha owes you under this agreement or under applicable law. You can review and cancel auto-debit at any time from the dashboard.
- Cancelling a mandate: You may cancel auto-debit at any time from your dashboard or by emailing [email protected]. Cancellation stops future debits but does not, by itself, refund prior charges or close your account.
- Mandate withdrawal facility: You may withdraw any e-mandate granted to the Company through Razorpay or your card-issuing bank's standard facilities. The Company will not attempt further auto-debits once a withdrawal is communicated.
- Failed debits: If a scheduled debit fails, we may retry within applicable Razorpay rules. Continued failure may result in suspension or downgrade of your account, as described in the Termination section.
6b. Refunds & Cancellation
Refunds after a paid charge are limited to the cases below, subject to applicable consumer rights:
- Duplicate charge: The same plan/cycle was charged more than once due to a payment-system error.
- Demonstrable billing error: The amount charged does not match the price published at the time of purchase, or a charge was processed after a verified cancellation that should have prevented it.
- Company-approved exception: A refund expressly approved in writing by the Company.
Outside these cases, all charges are non-refundable. Specifically:
- No refunds for unused quota, partial months, downgrades, account closure mid-cycle, or change of mind after a paid charge.
- Pro-rata refunds are not provided.
To request a refund, email [email protected] from your registered email address with the Razorpay payment ID and reason. Approved refunds are issued through Razorpay to the original payment instrument. If you initiate a chargeback or payment dispute through your bank or Razorpay, the corresponding account or feature may be suspended pending resolution.
See the full Refund Policy for additional details.
7. Data & Privacy
We process personal data as described in our Privacy Policy. For Indian users, we comply with the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act 2023. Business plan customers may request a Data Processing Agreement (DPA).
8. Intellectual Property
The Panchang API software, documentation, and data compilation are proprietary to DevDarsha. Your use of the API does not transfer any intellectual property rights. You retain ownership of any product you build using the API output.
9. SLA & Uptime
SLA commitments apply to paid plans: Amethyst (no SLA), Sapphire (no SLA), Emerald (99.9%). Downtime caused by scheduled maintenance (communicated 48 h in advance), force majeure, or third-party infrastructure failures is excluded. SLA credits are applied as account credits, not cash refunds.
10. Termination & Suspension
Either party may terminate by providing 30 days written notice. The Company may suspend access, throttle requests, or terminate immediately, in each case without prior notice, where it reasonably believes any of the following has occurred:
- Material breach of these terms or the Acceptable Use Policy, including key sharing, scraping/redistribution beyond plan limits, attempts to circumvent rate limits, reverse engineering, fraud, deceptive use of Panchang data, or harassment;
- Repeated failed auto-debits or non-payment after a reasonable cure period;
- Abuse, security incidents, or activity that places the Service or other users at risk;
- A pending chargeback or payment dispute on the related charge;
- A request from a competent authority or a legal obligation requiring suspension or termination.
On termination, your API key is revoked and data is deleted per the retention schedule in the Privacy Policy. Suspension or termination under this section does not, by itself, entitle you to a refund of fees already charged.
10a. Session & Login
Your login session expires when you close your browser. There is no persistent login ("remember me") at this time. This applies equally on desktop and mobile. You will need to sign in again on your next visit.
11. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability
The Service and the Panchang data are provided "as is" and "as available". Panchang data is provided for informational purposes only and is tested and improved on an ongoing basis; published accuracy figures are snapshots as described on the Accuracy page. We make no warranty of fitness for any particular religious, legal, financial, medical, ceremonial, or other high-risk purpose, and you should independently verify outputs before relying on them for such decisions.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Company's total cumulative liability arising out of or related to these terms shall not exceed the fees actually paid by you to the Company in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim. The Company is not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, including lost profits, lost data, or loss of goodwill, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
Indemnity. You agree to indemnify and hold the Company harmless from any third-party claim arising out of (i) your use of the Service in breach of these terms or the Acceptable Use Policy, (ii) your application or product that uses the API output, or (iii) your violation of any law or third-party right.
12. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Subject to the arbitration clause below, the courts at Kolkata, West Bengal, India shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or in connection with these terms.
Arbitration. Any dispute, controversy, or claim arising out of or in connection with these terms, including the existence, validity, interpretation, performance, breach, or termination thereof, shall be referred to and finally resolved by arbitration by a sole arbitrator under the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996. The seat and venue of arbitration shall be Kolkata, West Bengal, India. The language of arbitration shall be English. Each party shall bear its own costs unless the arbitrator orders otherwise.
